USING STEAMERS…
Choosing a STEAMER will depend on the literacy level and interest of the child.
Each story stands alone as a learning tool and can form the basis of a classroom lesson- not necessarily in science as other life issues are covered.
STEAMERS have been designed for two key groups- 7-11yrs. and 11-16yrs.
Children from 7-11 yrs. can have them read by a teacher or parent who will mediate the science topics and ethical questions at the back and guide the child to the glossary to learn new words.
Youngsters 11-16 yrs. can read them on their own and address the ethical/philosophical questions with each other, their parents, or teachers.
Counsellors can use them as therapy for ages 10-16/17yrs.

This provides the rationale behind the construction of the stories. It will give
teachers/parents a little more insight into content and who would benefit from
them.
